A joint message from the RPNS7s and the RFU
We hope that everyone reading this is healthy and hasn’t been too adversely affected by this week’s new measures and indeed since last March.
The Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s wish to thank every team, school, coach, sponsor and partner for their continued support of the tournament at a very challenging time for all of us, particularly for the pupils and teachers.
We have been in regular dialogue with the RFU and we are pleased to say that this is a joint message approved and supported by them.
Whilst there are many uncertainties surrounding sport and what rugby will be available in 2021, we want to state that at this stage we are confident that by March 2021 we can host a meaningful event. We would expect that there will be some adjustments to how we deliver this on and off the field, but we are hopeful that we play an important part in the reintroduction of a sport which holds so many benefits for its participants.
We are aware that holding a Ready4Rugby event will not be appealing for many, and that is not the suggestion, but there may be rule modifications which would still allow for contact while minimising risks for the players.
In conjunction with the RFU we are working hard to take all the necessary steps to deliver next March and regardless of the outcome in the next phase of lockdown, we will be in communication with all concerned parties before the close of the Christmas term 2020. Within that communication we would hope to outline any new plans regarding Health & Safety modifications, details for teams travelling from further afield and an absolute date for an announcement on cancellation amongst other details.
We also want to thank the RFU for their support, guidance and assistance at this time in trying to navigate what is a very tough scenario.
We look forward to speaking with you soon and updating you with good news about 2021.
