23 Mar 2018

Girls (U18) Competiton

Exeter College were named Rosslyn Park HSBC National Schools Girls champions as they beat Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf in an excellent 24-7 win.

Glantaf had beaten the reigning champions, Amman Valley, at the quarter final stage and had overcome Reigate Grammar 29-12 to reach the final, but then came up against an outstanding Exeter side in the final.

In the final, the Exeter wing showed electric pace for the first try and two further first-half tries gave Exeter a 15-0 lead at the break.

Glantaf hit back with a try soon after the restart, but ultimately Exeter were too strong and came through 27 – 7 to be named champions.

Glantaf’s Meg Davis was named Akuma Player of the Tournament;

Girls AASE Competition

Loughborough College ended Hartpury College’s total dominance of the Girls AASE competition with a stunning 14-7 victory in the final.

The two teams had been the stand-out sides of the tournament; Hartpury beat SGS Filton College 32-14 in the semi-final while Loughborough booked their place in the final with a 27-10 win over Worthing College.

Hartpury scored the only points of the first half, leading 7-0 at the break.  But the second half was a different story with Loughborough scoring twice to take the win 14-7.
