Wellington College emerge victorious in thrilling Colts final

22 Mar 2017

Wellington College were named Colts Champions after coming from behind to clinch victory with a try from the very last play of the game, defeating Millfield 19-14.

On the way to the final, Wellington College had faced last year’s champions, Brighton College, as well as Harrow, and overcame Sedbergh in the semi-final with a late score to win 17-14.

Millfield had reached the final with a 41-10 semi-final win over RGS High Wycombe, following victories over Uppingham and Woodhouse Grove.

In a tense final, the score was tied 7-7 at half time with a try a piece.  Millfield scored a breakaway try to take the lead in the second half, but Wellington College drew level with only a minute to go after sustained pressure.  As the clock signalled the end of normal time, Wellington College managed to regain possession before finishing with a try in the corner to seal victory.
