2027 Tournament Announcement

08 Jun 2026

2027 Tournament Announcement

We are pleased to confirm that the 2027 Howden Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens will take place from Monday 15 March to Friday 19 March 2027.

Please note that, with the RFU’s agreement, the tournament has been moved one week later than the originally scheduled dates due to concerns around pitch/infrastructure readiness and ensuring the best possible playing conditions for all 17,000+ participants. We understand that changing dates can create challenges for schools and the wider game. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are working alongside the RFU to communicate this as a result. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to prioritise player welfare and the quality of the tournament experience, as well as maximise participation.

With an earlier Easter in 2027, we are also conscious that this period of term will be particularly congested. The RFU will shortly be reflecting changes to rebalance the Age Grade Playing Calendar, which is similarly congested as a result. As your preparations for Rosslyn Park begin, we would encourage all schools to continue placing a strong emphasis on player welfare and carefully managing player load throughout the season.

This is particularly the case for the many boys and girls who also play in clubs and the player pathway, as well as at school or college. This will ensure, as well as accessing great playing opportunities like the National Schools Sevens, that they are supported in maintaining their wider connections with all their rugby playing opportunities and on their talent pathway.

The 2027 event will run to the same schedule as the 2026 tournament:

Monday 15 March – U18 Boys Vase (Day 1), U14 Girls (One Day Competition)

Tuesday 16 March – U18 Boys Vase (Final Day), U14 Boys (Day 1), U18 Girls ACE (One Day Competition)

Wednesday 17 March – U14 Boys (Final Day), U16 Boys Colts (Day 1)

Thursday 18 March – U16 Boys Colts (Final Day), U18 Boys Cup (Day 1), U18 Girls Open (Day 1), U16 Girls (Day 1), U11 Mixed Festival (One Day Festival)

Friday 19 March – U18 Boys Cup (Final Day), U18 Girls Open (Final Day), U16 Girls (Final Day), U13 Preparatory Schools Festival (One Day Festival), U13 Junior Festival (One Day Festival)

Registration

Registration for the 2027 tournament will open at 10am on Wednesday 10 June 2026 via the tournament website, www.rpns7.co.uk/register.

Please note that entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis, with both registration date and payment date taken into consideration. Entry into the tournament will be confirmed once the draw has been made.

We strongly encourage all schools to read the payment terms carefully before registering.

Once the registration form has been submitted, you will receive an immediate email acknowledgement confirming receipt of your registration, as well as an invoice sent either to you or to a bursar or finance contact nominated during registration. The invoice can be paid online by card, or alternatively by bank transfer or cheque.

Entry Fees

Following a flat fee structure for the 2026 tournament, entry fees for 2027 will be as follows:

  • One Day Competitions: £250
  • Two Day Competitions: £285

We understand that any increase in costs comes at a challenging time for schools. Since the last fee increase in 2025, the tournament will have experienced a 14% increase in operating costs. Every effort has been made to minimise the impact on participating schools, with the tournament absorbing a significant proportion of these additional costs. While a comparatively modest increase has become unavoidable, our commitment remains to keep the tournament as accessible as possible.

As part of that commitment, the Road To Rosslyn financial support programme continues to grow. In 2026, the programme supported 44 teams, and further expansion is planned for 2027. If your school could benefit from financial assistance, please select the relevant checkbox during registration and a member of the team will be in touch to guide you through the next steps.

In addition, the multi-team discount will continue, with schools entering five or more teams receiving a standardised £25 discount off one of their team entries.

Entry Criteria

Schools are reminded to ensure that teams are entered into the appropriate competition. If you are unsure which competition is most suitable for your team, please contact the Schools Manager at [email protected] for guidance.

We would also like to remind schools of the entry criteria for all competitions, particularly within the U18 age group. To ensure the integrity and competitiveness of each competition, entries should be made in accordance with the published entry criteria.

Please note that schools entering teams into both U18 Boys competitions will have one of their teams placed on a reserve list at the discretion of the Schools Manager.

2026 Reserve List Credits

If your school was on the reserve list for the 2026 tournament and would like to carry forward your payment, you will be issued with a credit equivalent to your 2026 entry fee.

To use this credit, please register as normal when registration opens and then contact [email protected] to have the credit applied to your invoice.

Should you have any questions regarding the tournament, registration process or competition entry criteria, please do not hesitate to contact the team at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support of the Howden Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens. We look forward to welcoming your teams to Rosslyn Park in March 2027 for another unforgettable week of school rugby and to building on the success of what promises to be the tournament’s biggest and best year yet.
