Reigning champions Filton have booked their place in the final 16 of the Rosslyn Park HSBC National Schools Sevens Opens tournament on Thursday.

Filton had a bye to the final 16 and will face Merchiston Castle. The winner of that tie will face either Sir Gar or St Benedict’s. Completing that side of the draw is USA High School All American facing Llandovery and Millfield up against Oaklands. The USA side are arguably the story of the day with a series of impressive wins during the pool stages and then a win over Skinners in the final 32. Llandovery booked their place thanks to a bye – with Millfield and Oaklands prevailing thanks to similar good fortune.

In the other side of the draw, Sedbergh will play Gower College. Sedbergh dispatched Manchester 24-5 with Gower College getting a bye. The winner of that match will play either John Fisher or Truro.

And the quarter finals will be completed after Whitgift face Gwyr and Worcester take on Wilmslow. Whitgift edged past Bishop Wordsworth 29-24 to book their place in the final 16 while Gwyr overcame Cwm Rhymni 19-14. Worcester and Wilmslow got a bye.
