Tournament Statement | 2025 U16 Girls Competition and Revised Rules

14 Oct 2025

Rosslyn Park has now concluded its investigation into the U16 Girls competition at the 2025 National Schools Sevens. We are grateful to all parties, including the RFU, for their assistance and patience during this process.

We are satisfied that there were no breaches of RFU age-grade regulations. However, given the number of players representing Llandovery College who were not enrolled at the school, we believe it is appropriate to reclassify the side under a more accurate name, West Wales Combined.

In recognition of the circumstances, Hill House School will be named joint winners of the 2025 U16 Girls competition alongside West Wales Combined. We are also pleased to name joint winners of the Limitless Player of The Tournament, Lucy Mainwaring (West Wales Combined) and Isobel Fortune Davies (Hill House School).

Looking forward, Rosslyn Park has put in place clearer and more robust regulations. These include a more transparent and detailed process for combination teams, ensuring they are formed for inclusion and participation purposes, rather than performance reasons.

2026 Tournament Rules

We remind all participating schools of the importance of following these regulations, and any breaches will result in sanctions.

Rosslyn Park remains committed to supporting the growth of female rugby. We recognise that combination teams will continue to play an important role in expanding opportunities, and we want to ensure that this happens in a fair and consistent way.
